Some of our physios have undergone additional training in the treatment of vertigo. Vertigo (or dizziness) can have many causes, however the most common condition causing vertigo is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) which can be effectively treated by appropriately trained physios. Common symptoms of BPPV can be quite distressing and include dizziness, nausea or spinning when changing position such as rolling in bed, turning the head or looking up. This is caused by particles in the balance portion of the vestibular system in the ear. Physios use techniques to manoeuvre these particles in the vestibular system to reduce dizziness.
